Production process
A Twinz frame is not simply cut, pressed, milled, shaped, finished, and assembled.
It is brought to life through more than 60 individual operations, where advanced technology meets meticulous craftsmanship.
Modern technology gives us precision. The hands of our craftspeople give every frame its character, comfort, and soul.
1. Design & Development
Every Twinz frame begins with an idea inspired by proportions, colour, contemporary trends, cultural heritage, architecture and nature.
The concept becomes a precise 3D model and physical prototype, tested for balance, ergonomics, comfort and fit before production.
Alongside our signature collections, we create bespoke frames shaped around each client’s features, style and character.
2. Material Selection
Wood is at the heart of Twinz. We select premium natural and multilaminar Italian veneers for their structure, texture, colour and consistency.
Each layer shapes the frame’s strength, flexibility, weight and character. Carbon fibre, fibreglass and metals add reinforcement, precision and contrast, while layered denim and other unconventional materials become refined eyewear.
3. Layering, Pressing & Precision Milling
Selected materials are layered in custom three-dimensional moulds, then pressed and cured under controlled conditions to create a strong, stable blank.
Precise positioning is essential, as even a small deviation can affect symmetry, balance and fit. High-precision CNC milling shapes the front, temples, bridge, lens grooves and hinge seats in several stages, with every component inspected between operations. Because fractions of a millimetre matter, every component is inspected between operations.
4. Finest Handcraftsmanship
The machine defines the initial geometry; our craftspeople bring the frame to life.
Each component is shaped, refined, engraved and sanded by hand, using different tools and grades to achieve a smooth, comfortable finish.
Every stage requires patience, experience and quality control. Since natural materials are never identical, each frame is worked with individually.
5. Precision Hinges & Engineering
Hinge installation is one of the most demanding stages. Twinz uses precision Austrian Redtenbacher hinges, selected for their slim construction, stability and smooth movement.
Installation involves up to 20 operations, from marking and milling to fastening and adjustment. Each hinge is fitted by hand to ensure symmetrical movement, consistent resistance and long-lasting comfort.
6. Finishing & Surface Protection
Before coating, each frame is inspected, finely sanded and softened by hand. A protective finish of natural plant oils and waxes penetrates the wood, helping resist moisture and dirt while preserving its texture and warmth.
Each layer cures before polishing and final inspection, leaving a smooth, natural surface that feels comfortable against the skin.
7. ZEISS Lenses & Cold Glazing
The frame is completed with high-quality ZEISS lenses selected for its design and purpose.
Each lens is individually edged for a precise, secure fit without gaps or unnecessary pressure. Cold glazing protects the materials from heat and preserves the frame’s geometry. After fitting, we inspect alignment, stability and balance. The lenses ensure optical quality, protection and everyday comfort.
8. Final Inspection & Packaging
Before leaving our workshop, every pair undergoes a final inspection for symmetry, surface quality, hinge movement, lens fit and comfort.
The glasses are cleaned and packaged by hand with a protective case, pouch, cleaning cloth, care and authenticity materials, and ZEISS lens information, depending on the collection. Every detail protects the frame and completes the Twinz experience, from our Gyumri workshop to its future owner.
